BARRELSHED No. 1
The colour is a deep amber to ruby with a dense off-white head. There is consistent front to finish hopping (49 IBU) with some pine, citrus rind, nectarine & grass flavours. The hopping is balanced by a biscuit- like malt body with hints of toffee & caramel and a pleasant fruitiness from the yeast. Barrel aging adds very subtle wine & oak notes that don’t overwhelm but impacts the finish. A slight alcohol warmth and a light residual sweetness leads to a moderately dry finish.
The malts are comprised of Canadian 2-row pale malt combined with classic English crystal and carastan pale ale malts. The hopping comes from big US bittering hops (Bravo, Columbus and Magnum) combined with subtle English aroma hops to provide a great sense of balance.
6.5% ABV. 1.060 OG, 14.8 Plato, 49 IBU
